Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between openQRM Community Edition and Enterprise Edition?

openQRM Community Edition is our open-source software with core replication features and command-line interface. It operates under the GPL, meaning all developers have to release their proprietary application. This version also lacks compatibility with our Plug-Ins.

openQRM Enterprise Edition is the paid licence version of the openQRM software, it builds on the core server with additional functionality. As it doesn't operate under GPL, developers are not obliged to releases their proprietary applications. This version comes with full compatibility with our plugins and includes basic-level customer support.

Which version of openQRM should I get?

Ultimately depends on your purposes, Enterprise Edition is targeted for businesses of any size and is released in stable versions. Community Edition is targeted towards developers and isn't designed for corporate use. If you are still unsure, contact us to organise a consultation.

What is the GPL?

The GPL is published by the Free Software Foundation. For more information, visit the FSF website.

How do I comply with the GPL terms?

The Software Freedom Law Center has published "A Practical Guide to GPL Compliance" that interprets and explains the requirements of using the GPL.
